Drinking Wine Has Health Benefits

Centuries ago wine was continually consumed on a daily basis and sometimes to excess, but because it was a daily drank by all but the very youngest, wine was consumed in great amounts. Nowadays, wine is used as a companion to a meal, an occasion or even a celebration. Believe it or not, researchers are now finding that there are actually health benefits to wine itself according to how much you drink, and the type you drink.

Researchers were beginning to be curious as to how the French could consume diets full of high fats and cholesterol and still did not develop enormous amounts of coronary disease. Because of the curiosity research studies began on how wine affects coronary disease as well as heart disease.

One of the studies found that one of the reasons that the French do not get coronary disease is because they do not care about what they eat or drink, but here more about moderation. In other words, obesity in France is not at the high rate. It is in the United States. Because of this moderation they would enjoy a small amount of an extremely rich meal, accompanied by wine, and only had the effect of a small amount of these coronary risks.

While scientists and researchers are not going to tell you that drinking wine is necessarily a good thing, they are finding that there are some positive effects. One of the most obvious to researchers is aid in digestion that wine allows Win consumed during a heavy fat meal. In other words, the wine actually benefits the user by helping with digestion, hence wine being such a popular accompaniment to many meals.

The whole point being with the French is that they drink in moderation, in other words, they only drink one or two glasses of wine per day. They do the same with their unhealthy diets of fats and cholesterol, they do not eat a lot at one sitting.

Just as with anything else, before starting to drink wine on a daily basis, be sure to speak to your doctor because it can exacerbate several different illnesses. There is no hard conclusive evidence that wine increases your life expectancy, rather it seems that it aids in digestion reducing the effect of high cholesterol diets. If you are one who is already battling high cholesterol, drinking wine is not going to necessarily make this problem disappear, rather, a healthy diet low in cholesterol along with the glass or two of wine can aid indigestion.

Just as with the French, everything needs to be done in moderation, the health benefits of wine and its aid indigestion is well-known, excess of anything though can be dangerous.
